Lead Groundskeeper - Full-Time, Year-Round position
Pacific Academy is requesting applications from qualified individuals for the position of Lead Groundskeeper. This is a full time, full year salaried position with a full benefits package.
The Lead Groundskeeper directs work, resource and equipment involving campus landscaping, road and parking lot maintenance. They report to the Facility manager and are part of a team of facility staff to ensure a safe and well-maintained campus for our community.
Successful Candidate should:
- Have a personal faith. The successful candidate will be required to provide a pastoral reference and annually sign the Pacific Academy Statement of Faith and Code of Conduct;
- Be prepared to submit to a Criminal Record Check;
- Minimum of 5 years experience and/or certification in Turf management and Horticulture/Landscape systems.
Responsibilities:
- Supervision and Coordination: Overseeing and scheduling grounds related routines, handling service requests, and ensuring efficient workflow.
- Quality Control: Ensuring all work is completed to established standards of quality and appearance.
- Landscape Maintenance: Planting, pruning, mowing, fertilizing, and maintaining lawns, athletic fields gardens, trees, and shrubs.
- Athletic Field Maintenance: Upkeep of both natural a sand-based turf and synthetic athletics fields.
- Hardscape Maintenance: Maintaining and overseeing the upkeep of walkways, parking lots, and other paved or structural elements. Ensure all surfaces are safe and in good condition in all seasons.
- Equipment and Materials: Ensuring proper maintenance of groundskeeping equipment, playground inspections and repair. Managing inventory and ordering supplies.
- Safety and Training: Ensuring WorkSafe regulations are followed, provide training to staff on equipment operation and safety procedures. Support daytime campus security protocol.
- Machinery operations: Knowledge and skill of operating landscaping, snow removal, lifts, tractors … equipment.
This position requires candidates to:
- work outdoors in all weather conditions;
- perform physical activities, tasks and skills;
- work early mornings, weekend and holidays when called upon (e.g. Snow/ice removal or special events);
- communicate clearly and effectively to staff both verbally and through written correspondence;
- have an ability to lead a team as well as work independently within school expectations;
- have Valid BC Driver's license.
