Academics

All students are challenged to work toward the school's standard of excellence in academic subjects, in order to reach their maximum potential.

The student-teacher ratio provides support to Pacific Academy's young people as they work toward achieving their academic goals.

Pacific Academy recognizes that academic success has its best chance where character grows and is shaped through the teaching and learning process. Individual excellence is actively encouraged.

The high school offers the International Baccalaureate Programme starting with a Grade 9 and 10 Pre-IB Programme and then the Grade 11 and 12 Diploma Programme.

Academic Achievement

At Pacific Academy, academic achievement is linked with the belief that knowledge and wisdom are inextricably joined. A wise person both understands, and acts out, the insights a faith based education provides.

At all levels student scores exceed provincial and national norms on standardized tests. Virtually all high school graduates meet the requirements for entry to a post secondary institution.

Science and Technology

Pacific Academy's science and technology programs help students to recognize how the information and knowledge explosion is affecting their lives. Students are made to feel at ease with these exponential changes so that they can participate and lead with energy and discernment wherever they are called to live and work.

The Arts

Each school sponsors choirs, concert bands and other music groups performing a range of classical and contemporary works.

High standards for the development of visual, verbal and written communication are enhanced by student involvement in music, art, drama, literature and graphic presentation.

In each of these areas students are encouraged to develop their interests and skills.

Fine Arts

The school's fine arts programs are widely acclaimed, both for their content and energy. Each year, students participate in a range of productions, including dramatic and musical performances. In the art program students are encouraged to explore various media forms. The qualified art instructors encourage students to explore all media to bring forth their individual, creative abilities. Impressive student artworks are formally displayed throughout the schools.

The music program is taught by specialists from kindergarten through grade 12 and encourages instrumental and vocal development in large and small group settings.

All students benefit from instruction in the fine arts. Outstanding student artwork is formally displayed on the campus.

Sports and Recreation

The fully equipped gymnasiums, playing fields and running track allow the athletic staff to carry out the school's commitment to the physical and athletic development of students. Physical education and sports are important ingredients in developing a sound mind, healthy body and caring character.

Students are organized to benefit from both team competition and individual sports.

The schools offer a wide range of sports activities, including basketball, floor hockey, soccer, gymnastics, track and field, wrestling, volleyball and badminton. School teams represent Pacific Academy in many local school sports leagues and events.
